Query Processing

Here, a Query is a kind of data processing, used for knowledge discovery with Estard Data Miner.

There are two main query types in Estard Data Miner:

• Data mining queries for obtaining Analytical Data, like Decision Rules, Decision Trees and Statistics.
• Queries to use Decision Rules and Decision Trees for searching in databases.

1. Queries to Obtain Analytical Data

To obtain Analytical Data you can use either Query Wizard or the "Manual Query Creation" page.

Using Query Wizard is recommended for starting users. With it's help you will easily create Decision Rules, Decision Trees and Statistics in a few steps.

Manual Query Creation is faster and more convenient for experts, aknowledged with program structure.

The main difference between using Query Wizard and Manula Query Creation is that Manual Query Creation is more flexible, allows to create Statistics separetely from Decision Rules and Decision Trees. As a result, the whole Analysis is been speed up:

1. Statistics Query - on this step you will receive Statistics. Once loaded and not edited Data Set doesn't need to be processed with Statistics Query every time you want to create Rules or Decision Trees. It is enougth to perform this Query before the first Rules or Decision Trees creation and after any content changes (records editing) you make in the Learning Database (page "Data Set Input") .
2. After obtaining Statistics, Decision Rules and Decision Trees can be created ( "Manual Query Creation" page). Choosing "Manual Query Creation", you will be able to create Rules and Decision Trees faster, than with the help of Query Wizard.

2. Query to Use Obtained Analytical Data

After obtaining  the Analytical Data can be used for calculations, reports, statistics, or for data searching in databases with the help of Estard Data Miner.

For example: After obtaining Decision Rules describing loyal customers, you can search for loyal customers in other databases.

The obtained Analytical Data can be used to perform "Simple Select Query" ("Analysed Data Set" page). "Simple Select Query" doesn't perform any Data Set changes. After performing a Simple Select Query, Estard Data Miner will  select and display all records, that are relevant to Rules, selected for the "Simple Select Query".

3. Types of Analysed Fields

Processing Queries, Estard Data Miner can use Field of such types:

• Text (TStringField)
• Integer (TIntegerField)
• Small Integer (TSmallIntField)
• Float (TFloatField)
• Logical (TBooleanField)

This means that all the controls for Classes and Fields selection (on the "Manual Query Forming" page and Query Wizard) will contain Fields of such types, and will not contain Fields, that are of other types.
