Editing Rules


For more flexible working with obtained decision Rules ESTARD Data Miner gives you tools for editing the created Rules.

You can delete a Rule, delete a part of a Rule, or change it's values. This feature is recommended to be used by experts, who can easily combine their own knowlege in examined field with the data, recieved with the help of a data mining tool.

If you are editing loaded Rules, the changes you will make will not influence the file you are using until you save Rules once again (page "Rules").

Edit Rules Window

The "Edit Rules" dialog controls are:
  • "Selected Class" list- contains all Classes, determined by the program
  • "Selected Rule" list - contains all Rules, created for the Class, marked in the "Selected Class" control
  • "Delete Rule" button - deletes the Rule, that is currently selected in the "Selected Rule" control
  • "Selected Field" list - contains all fields used in the currently selected Rule
  • "Delete Field" button - removes a field from the selected Rule
  • "Rule Fields Values Edition" control - provides a possibility to change any values in the Rule
  • "Apply New Field Value" button - click this button if you have inputed new values for Rules and now would like to apply them.

 

To Change a Value in a Rule you have to:

  1. Select a Class from the "Selected Class" control
  2. Select a Rule you want to Edit  from the "Selected Rule" control
  3. Determine a Field from the Rule you want to Edit in "Selected Field" list
  4. Click on the "Rule Fields Values Edition". You will see a list of all values, detected by ESTARD Data Miner. You can select a value from a list or type in a new one, in this case after pressing the "Apply New Field Value" button you will be asked if you want to add a new value to existing ones. Press "Ok" to add a new value.
